What does OpineHub mean?
Opine is a verb that means to state an opinion. Hub originally meant the central part of a wheel, but also refers to a particular analogous networking concept.
Therefore, OpineHub is a central place to state your opinions.
What is OpineHub's mission statement?
In order to understand our mission, let's first examine the two core beliefs of our philosophy:
- All men and women share a proportional amount of freedom and responsibility for said freedom.
- All ideas in the public realm are subject to criticism, but not censorship.
It is with these two principles in mind that we define our mission statement:
To promote an honest and fair media for the exchange of ideas and creative works. To provide a meaningful and abuse-resistant means to evaluate public reception of peoples' ideas and creative works. To emphasize the ideas and values of our members as a much higher priority than site popularity or profitability.
How does OpineHub intend to carry out its mission statement?
First and foremost, your ideas will almost certainly never be censored here. Censorship is often times disingenuous and unfair. The only exceptions to this is in cases of illegal content being posted (such as child pornography).
The rating system employed by our website is specially designed to value active and contributing members more than "one vote, zero content" accounts that could on other sites be used to bomb a person's contribution's rating down to zero.
The last sentence in our mission statement is implemented in three ways:
- By giving users complete control over how their work appears
- By minimizing the website's footprint on pages that serve user content by collapsing the left menu, and
- By allowing all users to dictate whether or not our sponsors' advertisements appear on the pages that serve their intellectual property.
What is your privacy policy, in brief?
No email spam, no disclosure of any private information to any third party without your written permission, and no spyware/malware. It is the opinion of the webmaster that these practices are pointlessly unethical and only serve to eradicate any shred of integrity a business has.
Can I post copyrighted material on OpineHub?
Only if you are the holder of the copyright, or if you have documented proof of the copyright holder's permission to distribute their intellectual property.
Can I post my own advertising code (Adsense, et al.) on my content?
Unless the code is accompanying an eBook, we strongly recommend against it. If the content in question is an eBook of significant quality and volume, then you are encouraged to do so.
